Xbox Games Showcase 2023 followed by Starfield Direct will be roughly two hours in length and won't feature CGI trailers for first-party games, revealed Xbox's VP of Marketing Aaron Greenberg.

Xbox VP of Marketing Aaron Greenberg has clarified a couple of burning questions regarding the upcoming Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct, which air in less than a week. In the recent Twitter thread, Greenberg commented on the show runtime, the format and what kind of trailers Xbox fans can expect from first-party studios.

Greenberg has confirmed that the event will feature roughly two hours of game reveals and won't retain the "12-month only" format, which was introduced last year, so expect to see some games that are further out like InXile's new project or perhaps a new Gears of War from The Coalition.

Furthermore, Greenberg shared more good news by stating that first-party reveals won't be CGI. Instead, everything that Xbox plan to show is either in-engine or a mix of in-engine and cinematics. "None of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers. Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labelled so it is hopefully clear for our fans," Greenberg tweeted.

Interestingly, Greenberg also had to clarify that Xbox Showcase will not feature any movie trailers, teasing Sony PlayStation Showcase in the process, which featured a trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, leaving fans baffled and disappointed at the same time.

Lastly, Xbox's marketing chief said he won't ask fans to temper expectations as he loves seeing all the wild lists and speculation online. "My advice is to just come in open-minded and enjoy the ride. Appreciate the years of hard work so many teams have put their heart & soul into this for you all."

It looks like Xbox could have a particularly strong showcase this year as many Xbox executives have been tweeting a lot about Xbox's biggest event of the year. Some may argue that it's pretty normal to hype up your own event but we have not seen such a strong activity on social media over the last couple of years which could be a hint that Xbox are really showing a lineup of games that will blow us away.

Fingers crossed.
