Xbox Series X and S have received their first major update since launch, with Microsoft adding more options for dynamic backgrounds, Game Pass titles preloading and more.
Having proven quite popular with Xbox Series X and S owners, dynamic backgrounds received six new options. The team are far from done here and you can expect a bunch of new ones in the future.
As you can see, some of the new dynamic backgrounds are homages to previous generations of Xbox, while others explored elsewhere.
Auto HDR Tags
Xbox Series X/S' Auto HDR setting can improve the visuals of your game without additional work by developers.
As you can see from the instantly recognisable Subnautica screenshot below, opening the guide will quickly let you know whether the game supports the feature. Oh and how about that installation below? No, you don't get that option yet!
Xbox Game Pass Preloading
"You can now view, add to “Play later,” and even pre-install certain games before they come to Xbox Game Pass. Just head over to the Xbox Game Pass app on your console or mobile device and look for the “Coming soon” section", Microsoft wrote.
That said, not all games will support the preloading feature, but for those that don't, the Game Pass mobile app lets you queue the installs to occur as soon as possible.
Optimised for Series X/S badges
Xbox Series X and S owners will be able to tell which games are optimised for their consoles, with the list currently featuring The Falconeer , Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, and many more.
Anyway, Microsoft added an "X/S" badge to each title that comes optimised for their next-gen console, so you'll be able to tell them apart with ease.
