It's been a long wait for Ebb Software's horror puzzle adventure game Scorn, which is set to finally release on October 21, 2022 as a console exclusive for Xbox. Today, we got a new look at the game thanks to the fresh eight minutes of nightmarish gameplay.
The gameplay walkthrough is from a very early part of the game, revealing dark grotesque hallways and corridors which we'll get to explore once the game launches soon. Interestingly, the video focuses entirely on the puzzle-solving aspects of Scorn. We didn't get to see any combat, but it's possible that the devs are saving that for later.
Or the dev team are just trying to set expectations for those who think Scorn is a survival-horror game that has plenty of shooting.
Scorn is set to launch on Xbox Game Pass for consoles and PC and it's one of the rare Xbox console exclusives this year. At the moment, it's unclear whether Ebb Software plan to port the game to PlayStation consoles or Scorn will remain exclusive to Microsoft's platform for a while.
We assume it's a timed exclusivity since Xbox usually locks down games to their consoles for three to six months, depending on the deal.
Scorn was originally announced way back in 2014. After a failed Kickstarter campaign, Ebb continued working on the game, re-revealing their project at Xbox Games Showcase in 2020. Since then, the dev team went radio silent until they started giving us more info recently.
Hopefully, it all goes well for Ebb as they are putting the finishing touches on their debut project.
