2K's arcade brawler WWE 2K Battlegrounds has got a release date and it will be launching for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Stadia on September 18, 2020.
WWE 2K Battlegrounds will launch with 70 wrestlers but the dev promised many more to come. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Paul Heyman are appearing in the campaign mode too.
Speaking of the campaign mode, WWE 2K Battlegrounds players will be rising up the ranks to earn a WWE contract, unlocking new arenas along the way. Arenas are apparently inspired by extreme locations, and the dev listed Everglades, Bootcamp, Mexico, New York and Scotland.
2K promise chaotic Battlegrounds environments with interactive elements that help spice up the scenery and matches, ringside weapons and all sorts of mayhem-inducing props.
Also featured in WWE 2K Battlegrounds are Online modes, which lets you play online tournaments and exhibitions, and King of the Battleground. "Brawl with the best in the King of the Battleground, an online, last-man-standing mode where four players start in the ring while four more wait outside to enter, challenging you to run the gauntlet and defeat them all."
The list of wrestlers contains, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton - combined with Legends - including Andre the Giant, Undertaker, Mankind, Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna, Sgt. Slaughter and many more.
Every WWE 2K Battlegrounds Superstar belongs to one of five class style, each with own combat moves, strengths and weaknesses. Whether you pick Powerhouse, Technician, High-Flyer, Brawler or an All-Rounder, though, the dev promises an experience that's easy to pick up but hard to master. Yeah, get ready to stop talking to some friends and family.
