Here is a rundown of all the essential information that you need to know about NBA 2K21 - including cross-progression, pricing, release date and much more.

2K have finally made an in-depth reveal of their upcoming basketball title: NBA 2K21.

Now, because there's a lot of information to take in about the new game, a number of people have been left feeling confused by certain announcements, and so we've decided to break it all down to clarify everything to the best of our abilities and hopefully remove all the question marks about NBA 2K21 that you possibly might have.

So, as far as the game's cover athletes go - there are three stars gracing different editions of the game this time around.

Damian Lillard is the face of the current-gen version of the game; Zion Williamson is repping the next-gen edition, and the late, great Kobe Bryant is on the Legend cover - known this year as the Mamba Forever Edition - for both generations of platforms.

Purchasing the Mamba Forever Edition on either generation of consoles will earn you a free copy of the standard edition of the game on the other generation within the same console family.

So for example, if you buy the Mamba Forever Edition on PlayStation 4, you will get the standard edition of the game for free on the PS5 - and same goes for the Xbox family of consoles.

Another important thing to note is that VC will be fully transferred from one generation to the other, together with your MyTEAM progress - all within the same platform family. The MyPLAYER progress however, will not transfer due to the fact that this experience will be quite different on next-gen consoles.

An additional perk of buying the Mamba Forever Edition on current-gen is the bonus 100,000 VC that comes with it. This means that the owners of this edition on current-gen platforms will receive an additional 100,000 VC when they start the next-gen version of the game for the first time, which will surely serve as a great MyCAREER boost on next-gen.

Speaking about the next-gen version of the game, 2K have stated that: "NBA 2K21 is being built from the ground up for next-gen and will feature new additions and improvements only possible on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. We'll provide more detail and specifics later this year."

Whether this means that the PC version of the game will be a current-gen port only, remains to be seen.

The current-gen edition of NBA 2K21 will set you back $59.99, whereas the next-gen version will cost $10 more, coming in at a recommended price of $69.99. The Mamba Forever Edition will cost $99.99 on both current and next-gen platforms.

September 4 2020 is the official release date for the current-gen version of the game, and the next-gen edition will be a launch title for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, both of which will be released this holiday.
