Weyrdlets is a free-to-play virtual pet game developed by a small Malaysian indie studio, Weyrdworks. The demo of the game is already available and the developers encourage you to try it. You can download it from Steam and immerse yourself in this charming world of virtual care for your virtual buddy that will keep you company while you're doing tasks on your PC.
As the developers themselves said, this game is described as a mix of Animal Crossing and Nintendogs and aims to be completely stress-free, allowing you to relax and enjoy every day's work while hanging out with a virtual pet that walks and plays on your desktop. The game also has Twitch integration, allowing streamers to engage with their communities during co-working streams or while queuing up in their favourite multiplayer titles.
Apart from that, some really interesting features are in the game, such as pet adaptation mechanics, to-do lists, personalisation, and more. Weyrdlets also have an integrated in-game currency system in which, while your pet is idle, it will earn virtual coins that can later be used for purchasing customisation items and other in-game stuff.
Regarding special features, the developers especially highlight the adaptation system that works as the real-life one. You must adapt a pet, then put some effort into domesticating them properly, and then enjoy your time spent with those adorable virtual creatures. Their goal may perhaps be to encourage people to adopt pets in real life instead of buying them.
The personalisation features are also highlighted. You will be able to personalise your pet and its environment with accessories and stickers, from Viking hats and shades to charming home decor, expressing your style and creativity by decorating your pet and its home with flair!
If this small game piques your curiosity, it costs you nothing to go over to Steam and try it yourself; it is free-to-play anyway. For more information, watch the Weyrdlets reveal trailer posted above.
