Dontnod Entertainment have their hands full with Life is Strange' sequel but that didn't stop them from supporting their alternative blood transfusion simulator Vampyr. A patch with the story mode is set for release on 26 September 2018.

The difficulty modes update should hit PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One all at the same time. Story Mode will, as the name suggests, de-emphasize combat and put focus on storytelling so players can enjoy the lore all they like and explore different endings without difficulty.

Those who wanted more challenge should be appeased too, as Hard Mode will come in the same patch where players will get fewer experience points from combat so they will have to give the magic kiss to more innocent bystanders. By that we mean players will need to suck the literal life out of already plague-ridden London.

Vampyr's original difficulty setting will now be called Normal Mode, but considering many players have already found their way around beating it without emptying any blood bags, they might want to give Hard Mode a try. On that note, it's not just experience that Hard Mode bashes players with, as the combat will also prove to be more challenging.

The three modes might be the highlight of the patch, but those who possibly had performance issues in Vampyr might relish the optimisation changes more. One of them includes availability of Nvidia Ansel for PC in case someone feels artistic and wants to take a photo here and there. Vampyr's exact optimisation tweaks were not listed though, except stating that "a host of optimisation tweaks and fixes" will be deployed.

If you're interested in giving the game a go, you might want to hurry up and snag it before the 33 per cent discount runs out on 24 September 2018. The discount itself was not exactly to celebrate the update, but rather a part of Focus Home weekend. If you want to read the patch notes yourself, you can do so on the Steam Community .
