Focus Home Interactive have announced in their latest financial report that Vampyr is coming to Nintendo Switch. Therefore, players will get a chance to suck on the go, if they got tired of roleplaying dr Reid on their home consoles or PC.
Vampyr seems to have a successful enough run on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to warrant a port to Nintendo Switch. There is currently no ETA on the port though, as the financial report only specifies that they will attempt to "maximisethe potential of the Vampyr license" so "after the game's impressive success on PC, Xbox One and PS4, it will be Nintendo Switch's turn to welcoem the DontNod title to reach an even wider audience".
With Life is Strange 2 now on the store shelves, and more episodes to come, it is probably safe to say that Vampyr 2 is not coming any time soon, as DontNod and Focus Home Interactive might as well maximise the profits by porting dr Reid to Nintendo Switch.
Considering that the financial report mentions Q3 2018/2019, a rough calculation would place Vampyr's release date on Nintendo Switch in summer 2019 as the quarter should last from 01 July to 30 September 2019.
This release window can prove to be different, based on Focus Home Interactive's scheduling, as the also mentions that Q1 started with April 2018 and finished with September 2018, meaning Q3 has just started. This would put the Nintendo Switch port up for release in near future.
While Vampyr review scores didn't put the game through the roof, it did apparently top the sales charts in several countries such as Germany, UK and France so a sequel should definitely come at some point down the line. The sales also influenced Focus Home Interactive's income, which is now up 33 per cent at €44.3 million.
DONTNOD Entertainment
Vampyr was praised for DontNod's signature storytelling, while most of the criticism came from the lacklustre combat mechanics. The game has recently received two new game modes that will seek to appease both those who like storytelling and challenge.
