In their latest earnings report, French publisher Ubisoft have revealed that Far Cry 5 is their best selling title on the current generation consoles. Furthermore, Rainbow Six Siege generated more than $1 billion since its release in 2015.
In their latest earnings call, Ubisoft have revealed a lot of new details about upcoming games but also shed some light on the success of some titles that released in the last few years. According to the report from Ubisoft, two biggest titles for Paris-based publisher are Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry 5, with each of them bringing high sale numbers and revenue.
The fifth instalment in the Far Cry series has already outsold every game Ubisoft released on the current gen consoles, meaning that it's the best selling title since PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in 2013.
Furthermore, Ubisoft's revenue has seen a massive boost thanks to another shooter - Rainbow Six Siege. Since its release in 2015, Siege generated $1.12 billion and its been growing steadily for three years now. Unit sales, in-game spending and season passes are all included in the huge figure.
Given that Ubisoft regularly support the game with fresh characters, maps and other content, it's expected that this number grows even bigger in the current year. The publisher confirmed that Siege performed within their expectations in the fiscal year 2019. Also, the player count has grown to over 45 million which is up for 40 per cent in the last 12 months.
Looking forward, the company are optimistic for their upcoming titles that should arrive in 2019 and 2020. The plan is to launch four AAA games, including the recently revealed Ghost Recon Breakpoint in October 2019 and three other games that should be revealed on E3 2019 in June.
One game that will not release in 2019 is pirate-themed action adventure Skulls and Bones. Ubisoft confirmed another delay, which will push the game to 2020 release window. On top of that, Skulls and Bones will skip this year's E3 expo. More about that .
