Ubisoft have announced a surprise sale on all Year One operators in Rainbow Six Siege. The sale reduces their cost by 40 per cent and will last for almost half a year. You read that right - the sale ends on 04 March 2019 for some reason.
Normally, a long sale would be considered one that lasts for one or two weeks. Ubisoft beat that record slightly by starting Rainbow Six Siege Year One operator sale that is set to last over staggering 23 weeks or 162 days in total.
Due to the nature of the sale and its length, many fans have asked Ubisoft why they wouldn't just make the new prices permanent. The official response is that "the value of the operators remains the same".
We are not sure how that makes any sense, since champions in League of Legends also retain the same value even after their prices get permanently slashed. For example, Thresh is the next in line for permanent price reduction even though everyone loves the guy.
Anyway, the news will most likely benefit the Starter Edition owners the most as the reduction applies to both Renown and R6 Credit prices and there are some decent picks among the Year One roster. All the operators qualified for the sale are picture above, but for clarity's sake, the full roster is Frost, Buck, Valkyrie, Blackbeard, Capitao, Hibana, Caveira and Echo.
The topic of the sale could potentially sound confusing to some players who might have expected the core 20 operators to be in it as well, but Year One only applies to the eight operators released after Rainbow Six's launch as a part of the first Season Pass.
There is a high chance that the sale is just there to improve operator diversity in players' pools since these eight probably fell out of favour due to power creep over the years. Then again, Blackbeard is still a popular operator that often finds himself to be a target of Ubisoft's nerf hammer.
