Creative Assembly have begun teasing what appears to be Total War: Warhammer 3, although we'd be far more convinced if the dev didn't move the stylistic goalposts a bit.
Which is not to say it's not appealing, quite the contrary. However, for a second there we were fairly certain it's got nothing to do with Total War: Warhammer.
This is one of those times when you're actually ecstatic for being wrong, making Total War: Warhammer 3 a genuine surprise.
We must admit we're a bit disappointed with the lack of Orks in the teaser - if there's anything we've learned from Warhammer is that there can never be enough Orks. No, not even when there are enough of them, which is when you simply apply the above rule.
"'Heed the heavens', the Grand Theogonist demands. Azyr stirs! Yes, as wind is wanton to do. Magic or otherwise. I am tired and drunk on rage: my eyes seek to make a fool of me. And a fool I am made", says the teaser's protagonist before revealing what it is that got him so worked up.
And the answer is Grungi's Baldric, one of the Old World's Star Signs that grants those born under it honour, discipline and propensity for mastery of weapons, all of which are driven by a selfless and lifelong devotion to the craft of soldiery.
Ultimately though, what matters about the teaser is that Creative Assembly are finally launching the second sequel to Total War: Warhammer, rather than rolling out more DLCs for Warhammer 2. We expect to learn more about the game in the coming days, and we really hope there will be Orks then.
