The developers of many psychological horror games such as Layers of Fear, Blair Witch and the latest one named The Medium will remain independent studio. Bloober Team officially revealed this via the press release in Poland as reported by Bankier.pl.
"The company has decided not to continue discussions with potential financial and industry investors interested in acquiring a majority stake due to the high risk of losing its overriding strategic objectives," the press release states.
"At this stage it would be incompatible with the culture of the organisation, and would significantly limit the potential growth of the company’s value in the coming years, especially taking into account the projects implemented and planned."
As you may know, Bloober Team is one of the studios that gets frequently mentioned whenever there's a talk regarding Microsoft's next acquisition but it looks like the Polish developers prefer to leave things as they are right now.
After all, they can still work with several publishers while developing games that they want.
Bloober Team have now established themselves as a proper horror studio with their previous releases and recently they also announced that their brand new game will be an existing horror IP from a very famous publisher fueling speculation that this project could be one of the rumoured Silent Hill games.
