Bloober Team, developer of the upcoming psychological horror The Medium, recently gave an interview, where they discussed the game as well as Microsoft's next-gen potential.
The Medium's lead designer Wojciech Piejko and Producer Jacek Zieba gave an interview to VG247, where they once again heaped praise on Microsoft's next-gen consoles.
They pointed out how Microsoft are getting closer to PC-grade performance levels with every generation, and they even talked up Xbox Series S, whose position in the Xbox chain doesn't get it nearly enough credit.
Zieba said he recently played through a whole game on Series S thinking it's the X model.
"Somebody told me “man, this is Series S.” What! Awesome, wonderful. Of course, you know, there will not be 4K because S does not support 4K, and of course it will maybe look different a little to Series X because X is twice as powerful, but the overall experience and fun from the game, it is the same. I own the Series S and I can’t wait to play in my home", he said. "The architecture of S, of this little while box, is just awesome."
The team recently came under fire over The Medium's PC hardware requirements, which is ironic considering that the reasoning behind this decision is as sound as it gets.
"Our game flows between worlds, sometimes you are only in one world, sometimes in two at the same time. If you launch the game and at the beginning you only have one world, and then you will get to a two-word situation when the game renders two, you know frames will drop and of course it’s not good. We have to put the specs for the most power-demanding situation and that’s why the requirements are high", Piejko said.
