The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will feature Nvidia DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 as well as ray-traced reflections and shadows but you'll need a powerful GPU to turn on all these features.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is quietly nearing its release in May 2023 and to try and add a bit of speed to the hype train, developer Daedalic Entertainment and Nvidia have today released a new trailer for the game, showcasing the RTX features that will be available in this stealth adventure.

Despite being titled "gameplay trailer" the trailer actually doesn't show any raw gameplay, instead, it's a montage of cutscenes and panoramic shots but to be fair, everything is captured in-game so you're looking at what you'll be playing.

Anyway, Nvidia confirms that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will have both DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 as well as ray-traced shadows and reflections. Sadly, there is no ray-traced global illumination or ambient occlusion, which are a bit more GPU-intensive features.

Speaking about intensive, we also got the official PC specs for ray-tracing and as expected, they are quite beefy. You'll need Nvidia's latest RTX 4000 series to run the game with ray-tracing set to high or max, and that's with DLSS enabled.

You'll notice that the game isn't demanding on the CPU or RAM at all, which is expected since ray tracing is exclusively GPU bound. Anyways, check out the specs below.

Yeah, ray tracing is still a very expensive feature even with upscaling tech like DLSS. Whether or not ray-traced shadows and reflections are worth it in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, guess we'll find out on launch. But judging by these specs, it doesn't look like Gollum's adventure will be a very optimised one.
