Over 10 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch have been sold globally, making it the fastest-selling title in the series' history.
Nintendo , the developers and publishers of the latest action adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , announced today that they sold more than ten million copies worldwide and that this marks The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as the fastest-selling game in the series' history.
Four million of those copies were sold in North and South America, making The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game and any Nintendo game in general in this region, beating the record of its predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild .
In the first three days, 2,24 million copies were sold in Japan, and a little less than four million were sold in Europe and the rest of the world.
This is the official statement issued by Nintendo regarding these amazing numbers in sales:
“Many players are returning to Hyrule with all its new mysteries and possibilities, and with the record-breaking launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch, we can’t wait to see what they’ll create in the game and the stories they’ll share next,” said Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Communications. “We’re grateful for all of our fans who’ve shown their passion for The Legend of Zelda over the years, and these sales numbers for the latest installment continue to show the strong momentum for both the franchise and Nintendo Switch this year.”
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a Nintendo Switch exclusive and is available for all Switch users as of last Friday. The game is very well received by the players and has an incredible Metacritic score of 96.
