Embark Studios' free-to-play shooter The Finals received a lot of praise from the players during the beta and shortly after the official launch two weeks ago. Players were impressed with the destructible environments, movement and vertical design of the maps, which allowed for some spectacular action.
However, The Finals players have now started to report some serious issues with cheating. According to the many comments on Steam, Reddit and social media X, the ranked mode is almost unplayable due to many hackers and cheaters.
According to the players, almost every lobby in ranked mode has at least one person cheating, which certainly is a serious issue for Embark Studios and could hurt the game if the problem is not solved quickly.
Players see one of the solutions in region-locking China as it seems that the majority of cheaters seem to be coming from this region.
"I swear, every other match in the Asian region feels like I'm going up against some coding wizard. It's ruining the whole vibe, and we need a fix," said one player on Reddit.
Embark have stated on The Finals' official Discord that they are working on solving the cheating problem after identifying a bug with the Easy Anti-Cheat system that did not allow them to ban cheaters.
Judging by their statement, the issue could be solved soon. In the meantime, you may want to hold off playing the game if you've encountered cheaters or suspicious activity by some players.
The Finals is available for free now across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
