The Finals is a new shooter from Stockholm-based Embark Studios, coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the near future.
Embark, who you may know as the newly formed studio, packed with former Battlefield developers, revealed the first trailer for The Finals, showcasing truly spectacular gameplay with destructible environments, vertical level design and stunning visuals.
The Finals will be a team-based FPS and yes, it's free-to-play, just like Embark's other gorgeous shooter Arc Raiders. Below, you'll find some key details about the game, screenshots and the official trailer.
The Finals - Official key features:
Dynamic and Destructible Environments — Embark say the arenas in The Finals are fully destructible, powered by their new server-side destruction and movement style that will ensure every player experiences the same impact to the map at the same time.
Player customisation — Another major feature is deep visual and gameplay customization that allows players to "build their own unique contestant". Embark promise ninjas and katanas, cowboys and rocket launchers and much more.
Tournament system — The Finals is a virtual game show, centred on "a high-stakes tournament with eliminations between every high-tempo round". Teams of three will need to work together to advance. Lose, and you can jump right back into a new tournament — win, and you can reach The Finals.
If all of this sounds exciting to you, Embark Studios are hosting playtests on PC, and you can sign up on the official website.
As for the release date, it is yet to be determined, but we know The Finals is now set to launch before Embark's other game - Arc Raiders - which is scheduled to release sometime in 2023.
