Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl might be an older game but it is getting updated graphics as a courtesy of a lone fan that is developing a graphics mod.
Games from 2000s often retain popularity decades after their release and Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is a great example of one such title.
Before it arrives, however, the first game in the series is getting a bit of a remaster thanks to a dedicated fan who kept working on the Rebuild mod.
As a matter of fact, the mod has now received a release date as Stalker: SoC - Rebuild is set to launch on December 25, 2022.
Some issues are to be expected, according to the author of the mod, as the sole developer is having issues with a deeper understanding of the OGSR engine, which needs work in order to modify some parts of the plot to remove inconsistencies, make changes to voice acting and so on.
On the bright side, the new textures look amazing and worthy of a release in the modern-day. When the Christmas of 2022 arrives, it will hold only the upgraded textures and the mod will be around 16GB in size.
An entire gallery of screenshots can be seen on the mod's page, providing an idea of what the fans can expect with the first release.
