GSC Game World's "Night of the Hunter" update transforms Zone exploration with night vision technology, tactical aiming improvements, and a dangerous new anomaly type.

GSC Game World has released the "Night of the Hunter" update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, introducing Night Vision Goggles as a major new gameplay element alongside tactical enhancements and a new anomaly.

Night Vision Changes Everything

The headline feature introduces Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) available to stalkers of all experience levels, fundamentally altering how players navigate the Zone's dangerous nighttime encounters. However, the advantage isn't exclusive - other stalkers are similarly equipped, creating new tactical challenges where darkness no longer guarantees safety.

The update includes NVG Offset Aiming, allowing players to tilt weapons for improved close-quarters handling while maintaining precision at longer ranges. This tactical feature redefines combat dynamics, especially when paired with the new high-powered laser pointer designed specifically for low-light NVG use.

An "Old Friend" in Zaton reportedly holds valuable information about acquiring and mastering these night vision systems, adding a quest element to the new technology.

New Fireball Anomaly

GSC Game World also confirmed that this update introduces a new anomaly type called "Fireball" within the Zone's perimeter. Initial reports describe intense heat that poses significant hazards to all stalkers, though detailed research findings remain classified. This adds another environmental threat to the Zone's already dangerous landscape.

Quality of Life Improvements

Update 1.6 also includes several player experience enhancements: customizable stick input curves for better controller handling, a local save backup restoration feature for data protection, revised loot distribution in stashes, and general technical improvements across the board.

In addition, some female characters have received a facelift, while NPCs can now loot mutants for body parts (which you can later loot from their dead bodies).

All in all, it's another substantial update for Stalker 2, which is shaping up quite nicely after a pretty poor launch. Hopefully, GSC Game World will continue with these updates in the near future.
