Saber Interactive and Anshar Studios have today revealed "Rogue Angel," a new roguelike game mode for the upcoming brutal, fast-paced shooter Painkiller. The mode will be available on launch - October 21, 2025 - across all platforms.
Procedural Purgatory Adventures
Separate from the main campaign, Rogue Angel transports players to a new realm of Purgatory featuring procedurally generated arenas. The mode supports up to three players in online co-op, letting friends advance together through randomised encounters while collecting tarot cards, weapons, and items. Each run concludes with epic boss battles, ensuring no two playthroughs feel identical.
The newly released trailer showcases the mode's fast-paced combat system, demonstrating how the roguelike elements integrate with Painkiller's signature demon-blasting gameplay. Check it out above.
Visually, it's quite striking in the most brutal but stunning way imaginable. Some of these levels really make me want to play this right now in co-op for full carnage.
