GSC Gameworld seem to be ramping up development on Stalker 2 as they suddenly announced they would be hiring numerous testers for the game.
Stalker games have had an odd history when it comes to new entries. GSC Gameworld often teased that they are working on a new title several times, only to go radio silent and eventually not release the game at all. It is this unlucky string of events that had the fans question the legitimacy of Stalker 2 when it was announced but it appears that it's time to put the rumours of the game not releasing behind us.
The reason for this ended up being a job opening posted on IngameJob that was looking for QA engineers, or rather QA testers, as we normally call them. Had Stalker 2 been just another project that had a dubious future and nothing tangible, there wouldn't be a need for testers.
Furthermore, they aren't just looking for a handful of testers. Gaming Sym inquired about the nature of the recruitment and GSC community manager told that they are "getting them in large quantities", hinting that they are ramping up production and want to iron out as many bugs and glitches as possible before launch.
Another bit of info GSC provided was that this is in-house only testing, meaning the testers would need to be in Ukraine and the test build isn't widely available.
Therefore, if you were thinking of applying but aren't in the proper location, you won't be able to get your hands on early Stalker 2 builds but that may be for the best. After all, it is a game we've been expecting for a long time and it would spoil the initial impressions if we got to play an unfinished build just like that.
