We have just two days left until Serious Sam 4 hits the shelves, and we came across a behind the scenes video focusing on how the franchise came into being.
Serious Sam is developed by Croteam, and if the name didn't make it clear enough - they hail from Croatia. The region isn't exactly famous for gaming, so you could say it's a small miracle they've made it.
Of course, you could also say that quality always prevails, and that's one thing that the Serious Sam franchise has never lacked. Heck, the screaming kamikaze is one of the best concepts gaming has seen, period.
Yours truly likes to say that Serious Sam 4 is a spiritual successor to Duke Nukem, whose name has unfortunately been dragged through too much mud to carry the same weight it once did. But let's just say they don't make them as wonderfully brutal as they did.
Except when it comes to good ol' Sam, and the story is that Sam Stone of the Surveyor ends up as the defender of Earth, against a force that cares little what or who we are - as long as we're dead.
Croteam aimed to keep the most of the old weapons arsenal and enemies, so as to stick with the general theme, but there's plenty of new stuff in Serious Sam 4 too.
Developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital, Serious Sam 4 launches as a Stadia exclusive on September 24, 2020, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions to follow sometime in 2021.
