Whether you liked skateboarding or not, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games were a blast and now rumour has it that Activision had two remake prototypes they played around with internally. There are whispers of a new game too, so here's to hoping.

Personally, I happened to be a big fan of the theoretical part of skating - it's that practical part with multiple bone fractures per move that made the sport less appealing. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, however, both 1 and 2, made it possible to immerse yourself in the culture without hospital visits.

Activision's licensing deal with Tony Hawk expired back in 2015, arguably on a sour note considering the lousy reviews Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 got, and the man has since moved on to other things and games.

Appearing on The Nine Club podcast recently, professional skater Lizzie Armanto was asked about her appearance in Pro Skater 5, and her reply was, "he's coming out with another one, and I'll be in that too."

Naturally, this doesn't mean that it's an Activision game, and knowing that Tony Hawk's Skate Jam launched for mobile phones in 2018, it's a bit sketchy. However, this part has since been edited out of the interview, which naturally Streisanded into Pro Skater rumour.

At the same time, resident rumour churner Sabi recently tweeted about potential remakes of the first two instalments. "An Activision contact told me a week or so ago about how Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 had demos/prototypes remade. They went around internally. I didn't share before as I wasn't sure if they were being remade as full games, or just a test", he said.

Whether Tony Hawk Pro Skater returns remains to be seen, although it wouldn't be surprising considering Activision's love of remakes as of late. As for the new game, we somehow doubt it has anything to do with Activision, but stranger things have happened.
