The next Street Fighter game will not release next year according to a reliable insider Dusk Golem. The delay is also the reason for the unexpected Street Fighter V season pass.
Yesterday, Capcom surprisingly announced another season of fresh content for their fighting game Street Fighter V. The new season will introduce five new fighters including Dan, Rose, Oro and Akira while also announcing one mystery character which will be revealed later this year.
The announcement was quite surprising since many are expecting to hear more about the next Street Fighter game. And it seems that the new season has some connection to Street Fighter VI. According to a reliable insider Dusk Golem, Street Fighter VI has been delayed out of 2021. The game was supposedly scheduled to release next year but "it was not received well internally or with testers".
On top of this, Dusk Golem claims that the game featured a certain team mechanic and that Capcom decided to replace the game’s producer, Yoshinori Ono with someone else to "fix" the game with an additional year in development, hence the new season in Street Fighter V.
As always with rumours, leaks and unconfirmed info, a hefty dose of scepticism is required until we get official info from Capcom. As soon as that happens, we will update the article with Capcom's statement.
