Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) could announce the acquisition of Demon's Souls Remake developer Bluepoint Games at their rumoured summer games showcase.
Rumour has it, Sony will have a major acquisition to announce at their rumoured summer event. The info comes from well-known industry insider Nick Baker aka Shpeshal_Nick, who claims that PlayStation Japan might have spoiled the surprise by accidentally (or purposefully) uploading the Bluepoint logo , instead of Housemarque's logo last week.
Baker reported a couple of weeks ago that Sony will have one big surprise for the show but now states that his sources told him, the surprise was the Demon's Souls Remake developer acquisition announcement.
"So it seems Sony Japan Twitter already spoiled this surprise? Because I was just now told the surprise was Bluepoint being acquired," the insider tweeted.
As always with rumour, leaks and unconfirmed info, we suggest you take everything with a dose of scepticism. While rumours suggested Bluepoint Games are a strong contender to join PlayStation Studios for quite some time now, until officially announced this is just speculation and nothing more.
Bluepoint Games have been working closely with Sony for quite some time now, developing two major remakes - Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls - and helping with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, so it's not surprising to see these rumours regarding the acquisition floating around the internet.
Hopefully, we'll get some official details in the coming weeks.
