Resident Evil Village is mere weeks away from launch and Dusk Golem has shared some juicy details about the upcoming game. While not officially confirmed yet, these rumours might mean a new direction for Capcom's franchise.

Capcom's Resident Evil Village will serve as a continuation of the story beats laid down in Resident Evil 7. An earlier rumour suggested that the next Resident Evil title will be the ninth game in the main series and the last numbered chapter.

According to the insider, Dusk Golem, the stories of Resident Evil 7, Village and RE9 were formulated as one coherent adventure. This would make sense as the last trio of games would bring an end to the numbered game sequels and introduce the new era of story arcs that span several different games.

Dusk Golem also claims that Capcom is shifting its perspective onto some smaller-scale stories that will be self-contained, but still have the feel and the scares the franchise is known and adored for.

Dusk Golem's Twitter account also gave us this nugget:

"This is my own suspicion, but in RE7, the DLC gave you the pre-order items in your item box. In RE8, they don't come in your item box, but via the merchant, & clarify you need inventory space for them. I think there's a chance RE8 may not use Item Boxes & you carry what you can."

AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem was often correct in his predictions. However, none of his recent musings has been officially confirmed by Capcom so take everything with a grain of salt.

It's lucky that we won't have to wait long to see if the rumours are correct as Resident Evil Village will release on May 7, 2021, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
