Resident Evil Village's character Duke will offer you a wide variety of services including character and weapons upgrades. For these, you'll need to hunt animals for meat and collect Lei from enemies.
Being a survival horror, Resident Evil games always tried to make players feel weak and vulnerable by limiting ammo, herbs and other valuable items. We are yet to find out if Resident Evil Village is set to continue this trend but judging by early gameplay videos and previews, it seems that we'll get the familiar system but with a couple of additions including a more fleshed out character and weapon upgrades.
In Resident Evil Village, you will be able to hunt various animals that can be found around the snowy village. The dead animals will drop meat which you can use in The Duke's Kitchen and make some delicious meals that will permanently enhance Ethan's abilities. For example, a Bird and Beast Pilaf reduce damage taken when guarding.
Additionally, you can also upgrade Ethan's arsenal of weapons. The key for weapon upgrading is Lei, Resident Evil Village's currency. You'll get Lei as you kill enemies or you can find hidden treasures all over the game's world that can be then sold for cash.
Once you have enough Lei, you can browse Duke's shop for attachments that will help you take down the enemies much easier. You can also upgrade the weapon's power, rate of fire, reload speed and ammo capacity.
Resident Evil Village is officially launching on May 7, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
