New details have emerged about Resident Evil Requiem, the recently announced next instalment in Capcom’s long-running survival horror series, revealing two major gameplay features that will certainly make longtime Resident Evil fans ecstatic.
Playable in Both First and Third Person
According to the latest information that leaked on Reddit, Resident Evil Requiem will allow players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives on the fly, offering a fully playable experience in either mode. This means that Capcom are continuing the trend of supporting both camera perspectives, which is something that we've also got in Resident Evil Village.
A Familiar Second Protagonist
Leaks also suggest that, in addition to Grace Ashcroft, the previously revealed FBI agent protagonist, Resident Evil Requiem will reportedly include a second main playable character, described as someone “fans will be familiar with.” This unnamed returning character will have access to a large arsenal of weapons, suggesting a more combat-heavy section of the game, likely contrasting with Grace’s investigative role.
While Capcom has yet to confirm the identity of the returning character, speculation is already pointing toward key series veteran Leon S. Kennedy, especially given the game’s connection to Raccoon City and earlier storylines.
What We Know So Far
Resident Evil Requiem was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, with a launch date set for February 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game takes place in a post-nuclear Raccoon City and features a darker narrative tone, new enemies, and the continuation of bio-terror threats.
More official details are expected to follow in upcoming showcases or direct updates from Capcom.
