Although the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES as it’s more commonly known, isn’t your go-to place when it comes to gaming, it’s been known to pull a surprise or two. Now however, it is Razer who pulled a surprise with their announcement of Project Linda, their 13.3 inch laptop slash gaming smartphone hybrid.
First of all, if someone had told me a decade ago that one day, Razer will show us the way forward, I would have puked out that week’s dinner in his face. Seriously Razer? The funky, green peripheral dudes? Well it turns out the “funky, green peripheral dudes” provided a glimpse into the future with their 13.3 inch laptop hybrid that not only runs on Android-based Razer Phone gaming smartphone - it integrates it wonderfully.

Project Linda is basically a 15mm thick aluminium chassis that packs a 13.3-inch quad HD touchscreen, 200GB of storage and a 53.6 Wh power bank. Heart of the product however is the company’s Razer Phone, which slots in seamlessly, acting as an auxiliary display or a simple touchpad. Now, Razer Phone may not excel in taking photos and other modern phone-centric tasks, but it is a mobile gaming beast that again merely foreshadows what’s to come - after all, the form factor and power drain required for such performance will only go lower.

Now we’re not saying that the Razer Phone is the best phone around, because it’s not. However, what it IS, is a bundle of gaming potential and it's just too bad that tasks at which it would wipe the floor with competition are simply few and far between. Should we even use phones for that? We not only should, but will, and Razer knows that.
What we’re looking here is most likely the most common form factor of the future - a platform that seamlessly transfers from a mobile phone to a laptop. To be fair, this is not the first time this has been tried, but Razer’s concept really seems to have struck a perfect recipe of real world performance and future potential. Heck, at this tempo, we’re probably start going to start referring to desktops as stationary electronics, together with the rest of their microwaving, freezing and heating brethren.
