Psychonauts 2, Double Fine's long-awaited sequel for Raz's iconic action-adventure platformer is just around the corner and today, Xbox and the dev team shared more details about the game, including a story trailer, which you can check above.
Judging by the early performance charts, it seems that Psychonauts 2 is a properly optimised game on all platforms, including PlayStation consoles.
Double Fine confirmed that Xbox Series X and Series S owners will get to experience the game in silky smooth 120 frames per second. Both consoles have 60 FPS and 120 FPS modes but Series X will offer much sharper image quality thanks to the faster GPU and CPU chips.
Anyway, PC players will also be happy to hear that Psychonauts 2 will have unlocked frame rate as well as VRR support but sadly, no HDR implementation
As for Sony's consoles, there's no HDR nor VRR and the PS4 version will be limited to 30 FPS. The next-gen console, PlayStation 5, will run the game via backwards compatibility in 60 FPS.
Here's Psychonauts 2 performance sheet for all platforms:
Psychonauts 2 is officially hitting the shelves on August 25, 2021, for PC, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
