Double Fine have officially announced that their upcoming platformer Psychonauts 2 has gone gold ahead of the August 25 release.
Psychonauts 2 is probably one of the biggest releases of the year for Xbox Game Studios, right after the long-awaited Halo Infinite and spectacular-looking racer Forza Horizon 5.
The Raz's second adventure will be coming before these two heavy hitters and after years of development, it is just around the corner now.
Today, developer Double Fine have announced some exciting news - Psychonauts 2 has gone gold - which means that the work on the final build of the game has been wrapped up.
Usually, when a game goes gold that also means it's ready to be printed on disc media and shipped but since Psychonauts 2 won't have a physical release on launch, we assume the game's final build is now ready to be uploaded to storefronts.
Of course, this does not mean that the work on the game is done. It's far from it since the developers will now focus on post-launch patches and updates - fixing some of the potential issues that surface as players encounter them while playing.
The pre-load for the title is also live right now so if you already pre-ordered Raz's next big adventure, make sure to download the game on your Xbox console.
At the moment, the pre-load is not available on other platforms, sadly, but we expect that to change as we get closer to the release.
Psychonauts 2 is officially launching on August 25, 2021, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
