IllFonic, the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game is working on a brand new title named Predator: Hunting Grounds. The game was revealed on the PlayStation State of Play, it's a shooter and it's coming in 2020 to PlayStation 4.
Sony's second episode of State of Play show brought us a couple of new trailers for the upcoming PlayStation 4 games but also announced two, brand new games. One of these games is the next project of Friday the 13th: The Game developers IllFonic.
Set in Predator universe, IllFonic's new game is an online multiplayer shooter named Predator: Hunting Grounds and it's coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 sometime in 2020.
The short teaser did not reveal much, just a couple of soldiers, wandering around in the middle of the jungle while Predator in his Cloak mode scans his next victims. However, more about the game was revealed on PlayStation blog, where a detailed post was shared by IllFonic CEO, Charles Brungardt.
According to Brungardt, Predator: Hunting Grounds is still in early development but that did not stop him to share some initial details about "this competitive online multiplayer experience".
Apparently, IllFonic are big fans of asymmetrical multiplayer experience, games like Evolve for example, and they are building off their past successes in a whole new way with Predator: Hunting Grounds.
One group of players will control members of an elite Fireteam who are packed with conventional firepower - shotguns, SMGs, assault and sniper rifles - you name it. On the other hand, one player takes control of the Predator - a stealthy, acrobatic killing machine with alien technology such as Cloak and Plasmacaster.
The goal of the Fireteam is to carry out paramilitary missions which include destroying bad guys and recovering important items while Predator will be there to try and take out the Fireteam one by one.
Brungardt concluded by saying that the devs are massive fans of the Predator franchise, which helped them stay true to the world and create an immersive experience.
