PlayStation insider Millie A has shared a cryptic tweet which simply states "Acquisition". This could be a subtle hint that Sony are about to announce another acquisition in the near future.
Sony have previously said that they are not done with acquiring new studios for PlayStation and another one could be on the way if the latest tease from PlayStation insider Millie A is what everyone thinks it is.
The insider simply tweeted "Acquisition", hinting at a potential acquisition from Sony in the near future or perhaps an announcement for the acquisition at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase.
Now, keep in mind that Millie A is not exclusively a PlayStation insider as they have shared information about Xbox too, so this tease could be for an acquisition from a different publisher and not Sony.
Also, it has to be said that this is far from official information so take it with a hefty dose of scepticism, just like any other rumour or unconfirmed report. When it comes to acquisitions, these things are usually secret until the very end so the chances of someone knowing about the deal are very slim.
Sony are, of course, always evaluating the market and looking for potential studios who are willing to sell, just like Microsoft , Tencent and every other major video game company so it's not unusual if they have set their sights on a certain studio.

The candidates? Well, we'd say that Deviation Games are one of the studios that Sony could acquire. The studio is currently working on a new shooter game for PlayStation 5 , as announced back in 2021.
Square Enix could be another target for Sony. Their games are already exclusive to PlayStation and it seems that the two had a pretty good relationship lately. We doubt anyone would be surprised if the Final Fantasy publisher decided to join the PlayStation Studios family.
So all in all, if you care about acquisitions in the gaming industry, keep an eye on Sony's official social media channels in the coming days.
