According to the latest leaks, Assassin's Creed Mirage will indeed be a love letter to the fans of the first couple of games, emphasizing stealth on a smaller-sized map.
Ubisoft have said repeatedly that Assassin's Creed Mirage will take back the series to its roots, unlike the recent Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Odyssey , which featured gigantic open-world games and RPG elements with almost no focus on stealth.
And according to the latest leaks, it does look like Ubisoft will deliver on their promise. Assassin's Creed Mirage will be much shorter than previous Assassin's Creed games with a smaller open world, focusing on stealth instead of action gameplay.
That's according to trusted Assassin's Creed content creator j0nathan, who shared the new details in his latest video on YouTube. You can watch the video for all the details but keep in mind that it's in French. Otherwise, we've made a detailed breakdown below and yes, it's in English.
Here's a full breakdown of the most important bits from the video:
- The story kicks off with Basim having to move to Baghdad after a job that goes wrong
- The story is around 15 hours long
- Map size similar to Paris in Assassin's Creed Unity or London in Assassin's Creed Syndicate
- A large portion of the game is set in Baghdad
- Players will have to find details about targets in Baghdad before they perform an assassination
- Stealth will play a massive part as Basim isn't really as strong as Eivor
- Reputation system with four tiers. Each tier is tougher as the player ranks up.
- Zero to few modern-day references
- Coming October 12
Obviously, this is far from official information so you should definitely take it with a pinch of salt even though the leak comes from an Assassin's Creed content creator that is trusted by the community.
That being said, if these unconfirmed details about Assassin's Creed Mirage are indeed legit, we're super excited to finally see the game in action.
It seems like Mirage will truly be a love letter to fans of the original Assassin's Creed games, before the franchise started venturing into the RPG genre and large open-world design.
Assassin's Creed Mirage should launch later this year on PC , PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 , Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
