The PlayStation 5 showcase event was originally supposed to happen on June 4 but Sony officially delayed it on June 1 saying that there are "more important voices to be heard." A Twitch ad might have leaked the new event date.
Sony's PlayStation 5 showcase event was originally set for June 4, 2020. The event was then delayed on June 1:
"We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4," says Sony's announcement. "While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard."
Rumours on 4chan later indicated that the showcase will happen on Friday 12 June 2020.
A post on 4chan read:
"It seems that the new date chosen by the company to officially present the console and its first games is Friday 12 June 2020,"
"And even some newspapers are receiving new updated information on the new presentation date right in these hour. I obtained this information through a source in close contact with the Sony Playstation marketing department."
This wouldn't have been the first time a leak on 4chan turns out to be true but looks like this time the rumour was off by one day as it appears that a Twitch ad has leaked the new PS5 event date as June 11.
The ad now appearing on Twitch lends some credence to the information, but Sony has yet to make the official announcement.
