Activision Blizzard games won't be coming to Game Pass over the next couple of months, Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer confirmed in the recent episode of the official Xbox podcast.
Spencer said that they don't have any surprises on the horizon so players should not expect Call of Duty, Spyro, Diablo and other popular games on Xbox's subscription service anytime soon. "[There's no] secret celebration drop that’s coming in the next couple of weeks," Spencer said.
According to Spencer, the sole focus of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard was on closing the deal so the teams didn't really had the time to prepare the back catalogue of games for Game Pass. However, the teams are now actively working on this and players should start seeing the results in 2024.
"Now that the deal is closed, we're starting that work, but there is work. I think the Activision X handle talked about 2024, I think that's accurate," Spencer said.
This will obviously come as a disappointment to those who expected to see at least older Call of Duty titles on Game Pass as soon as the deal closes but to be fair, Game Pass is pretty packed with incredible games even without Activision Blizzard titles so this could be the perfect opportunity to check out some of these while you wait for that big batch of Call of Duty and other titles.
Xbox Game Pass features hundreds of games from various genres and at the moment, it's certainly one of the best deals in gaming. With Activision Blizzard's games, that value will skyrocket, if the price stays the same.
