Microsoft has been quietly but consistently growing Xbox Game Pass all through 2025, and June is no exception to that rule. Call of Duty: WWII, the best-selling console game of 2017, is now on Game Pass. This is the fourth Call of Duty game to land on the service since Microsoft completed its Activision acquisition in late 2023, and it’s great news for Game Pass subscribers who still want to play the top-ranked WWII multiplayer.
Developed primarily by Sledgehammer Games with support from Raven Software, Call of Duty: WWII returned the series to its World War II setting. It released in November 2017 to best-selling console game of the year status and quickly moved over 20 million copies across all platforms, landing on a few best-selling games of all-time lists in the process.
In contrast to the other recent Call of Duty additions to Game Pass, WWII does not launch with support for Xbox Cloud Gaming. While that’s a bummer for those who might have wanted to start playing immediately on the go, it is still available to play on Xbox consoles and PC in all non-Core subscription tiers starting on June 30.
Call of Duty: WWII on Game Pass: What You Need to Know
Here’s what Xbox Game Pass subscribers should know about Call of Duty: WWII:
- Release date: Call of Duty: WWII launched to Game Pass on June 30.
- Platforms: Available to play on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming support: Currently not supported, unlike other recent Game Pass titles like Black Ops 6.
- Game Pass tiers: Included in Ultimate, PC, and Standard subscriptions.
Call of Duty: WWII is still one of the most highly-regarded entries in the series in the last decade thanks to its immersive campaign, gritty visuals, and boots-on-the-ground multiplayer.
Xbox Game Pass Grows With Big Additions in June and July 2025
June 2025 was a big month for Xbox Game Pass, with 17 games being added in total - the second-largest one-month gain of 2025 thus far.
July is already looking strong as well:
- Little Nightmares 2 launches July 1.
- Mecha Break is another July 1 addition that will launch day-one.
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 drops July 11.
Microsoft is still doing a lot of heavy lifting on the Game Pass service to continue adding high-profile and nostalgic games to the lineup. Expect more classic franchise additions and day-one launches in the months to come.
