Path of Exile: Harvest launched roughly half an hour before publishing this article while the console version will be available one week later. Since there aren't any exclusivity deals floating around, it's likely that the devs just want to see the launch through before shifting focus to other systems.
The expansion will introduce players to Oshabi who has sought their help in cultivating the Sacred Grove which supposedly holds some mysterious powers. Exiles will not be in the business of cultivating actual flora though as seeds planted here will produce dangerous monsters instead. Slaying them will let the players wield their Lifeforce as a requirement for crafting or in order to help other exotic crops grow.
In the case of the latter option, players might be able to get a bountiful harvest which will unlock "powerful crafting options that are unmatched by any past expansion". It still remains to be seen what the players will actually get from doing so.
GGG folks seem to have put a lot of effort into this crafting system as Chris Wilson, the managing director of the studio, noted that it's one of their favourite aspects of the expansion.
As per usual, the expansion is completely free and Path of Exile remains free from any pay to win elements. There are several other features that players will be able to enjoy here as well:
- The Harvest Challenge League and the associated crafting system
- Four new Warcry skills and a rework of the existing ones
- Three new Brands, one gem and revamped existing brands
- Slam skill category and revamps of existing slams
- Rebalance of the existing gameplay
- 12 new items and improvements to over 50 unique existing ones
- Passive skill tree revamp
- Delirium core integration
