Players have expressed their worries about Paladins' readiness for the upcoming release and inadvertently spawned a "ready for launch" meme. This prompted Hi-Rez studios to respond to players' concerns and hint at their future plans.

Paladins is coming out of Steam Early Access on 8 May 2018 and the volume of player concerns is increasing. Reddit user Dainserk expressed his concerns on the state of the game, citing the issue of unfinished champion portraits in loading screen which could show that the game is unfinished as well and in doing so repel potential new players.

Dainserk's concerns also include the unfinished battle pass which doesn't have challenges implemented yet and the fact that Skye is scheduled for rework, which isn't going to happen before launch. Hi-Rez's community manager, Alyssa, offered some insight in the studio's plans for the future of Paladins and mostly addressed Dainserk's concerns.

She stated that the update schedule will change for Paladins, with major updates coming out every six weeks and smaller updates on a two week basis. The major updates will include new champion releases or events and in some cases - both. This means that Skye's rework will not happen sooner than a month and a half from release.

Smaller patches that will have a two-week cycle will bring balance changes, game polish and bug fixes since the content additions will be reserved for the large scale updates. This will likely include things such as the missing champion portraits.

HiRezAlyssa also mentioned that the work on matchmaking is in progress and will continue for the foreseeable future. The first smaller patch will kick in some time during the week starting on 14 May 2018 and may have some content tied to it since Hi-Rez didn't manage to release with Open Beta version 0.70 and it should provide some insight into what these smaller updates may include.

Paladins' first large scale content update doesn't have a confirmed ETA but it should drop a "few weeks down the road". The full thread can be found .
