Although the May 21 Overwatch 2 update isn't particularly large, it does bring some improvements to Venture that will increase the threat level of the game's most recent DPS in combat.
Their Drill Dash ability will now start as soon as it is utilized and won't have its cooldown halved when used underground, according to multiple patches. Rather, it will accelerate by ninety percent.The enhancements for Drill Dash should make it much simpler to use, both as a moving ability and for verifying kills on the map.
Another improvement coming to Zarya is what the developers are referring to as a bug patch. Tanks are now less susceptible to knockback thanks to changes introduced in the previous patch, but this unintentionally prevented Zarya from using her secondary fire to "rocket jump" to higher altitudes.
This update from Blizzard increases her self-knockback, and this is an excellent thing for Zarya mains who wish to use jumping and shooting at the ground to surprise their enemies and reach higher areas of maps.

Venture
Drill Dash
- Cooldown now starts upon ability activation.
- Cooldown reduction by half when underground is removed.
- Cooldown speed is increased by 90% when underground.
Burrow
- A 0.2-second grace period has been added after the Burrow timer expires, allowing emergence to still be charged.
Developer Comments: "As we continue to monitor Venture’s gameplay throughout their release Season, we are making a change today that adds more flexibility to using Drill Dashes. Players will now be less punished for using their Drill Dash above ground and immediately burrowing due to the new accelerated cooldown while underground."
Zarya
- Increased self-knockback on secondary fire to compensate for the enhanced knockback resistance of tanks.
While these changes may not seem significant, but they are necessary as these small tweaks were much necessary before the upcoming OWCS Dallas 2024.
