Following the horrendous monetisation plans Blizzard implemented in Overwatch 2, the players are causing a massive backlash and calling for a boycott.

Overwatch events used to be wonderful as players looked forward to unlocking new high-quality skins by simply playing the game and accumulating currency while those who didn't have the time could purchase the loot boxes that would, in the worse case, provide Credits that could be used for purchasing the skins one desired.

Monetisation fairness took a nosedive with Overwatch 2 and Blizzard made it even worse with the Halloween event that proved to have very little content and even less shame.

The two Legendary skins that were added can only be obtained by shelling out $20 or the local currency equivalent while the Kiriko bundle would set you back at least $26.

This obscene monetisation plan enraged the community who went to protest on Blizzard forums with a massive wave of threads complaining about the unfair pricing, better ways to spend one's money and more.

One thread, for example, noted that the player bought Bayonetta 3 at full price which was obviously money that was spent in a better place than Overwatch 2 cosmetics.

Considering that events are supposed to be something to promote the game and endear it to the player base, the shameless attempt to pluck their wallets clean is definitely a reason for outrage.

The community expressed their extreme dissatisfaction on Reddit as well, which prompted the mods there to start deleting threads , effectively censoring the voice of the players in the process.
