As announced back in September, Nioh 2 is getting its second DLC titled Darkness in the Capital today, and Koei Tecmo had a lengthy reveal of what awaits inside.
Nioh 2: Darkness in the Capital's trailer was posted by Sony a few hours ago, but it was revealed during Koei Tecmo's live stream. We've included it below, although there's no need to watch all of it, especially if the Japanese language isn't your forte.
In terms of the story, Nioh 2: Darkness in the Capital has players venturing back to the Heian capital Kyoto, where you'll join forces with some heroes of legend.
"Venture back in time to the capital city of Kyoto and join forces with legendary heroes, including Japan’s foremost demon slayer and history’s most powerful Onmyo mage. Together with your new allies, face the yokai threat and discover a mysterious connection between the distant past and the troubling present", the trailer's description reads.
Nioh 2: Darkness in the Capital brings with it a handful of powers and new gear to check out, as well the new additions to players' arsenals - the Fists and Clawed Fists. Team Ninja apparently thought and rethought the weapons in order to bring a sense of uniqueness to it, rather than just introduce them as a novelty gimmick.
Equally as important, if not even more, is the addition of two renowned historical figures, Minamoto no Yorimitsu and Abe no Seimei, the yokai hunter of legend and the most powerful Onmyo mage of the ancient times. The ultimate goal was to depict a period filled with curses and peril, in tune with that Nioh 2 feel that hooked players to the game.
