Nioh 2 developer Team Ninja are open to developing a brand new IP, exclusively for Sony's next-gen console PlayStation 5, studio head Yosuke Hayashi confirmed.
It looks like Sony could add another brand new IP to their impressive catalogue of exclusives. The developer of the upcoming action RPG Nioh 2 would love to create a new IP, specifically for Sony's next-generation console PlayStation 5 according to Yosuke Hayashi, the Team Ninja boss.
Speaking to Eurogamer Portugal about Nioh franchise, Hayashi was also asked about the next-generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony, and what it means for the studio like Team Ninja. Hayashi did not explicitly confirm if a brand new game for PlayStation 5 is in the works, but he did say that Team Ninja would love to make one.
"I believe that a new console will bring new opportunities and we would like to create a new game, a new intellectual property for PlayStation 5," Hayashi replied. Furthermore, he explained that the studio created Nioh franchise for the current-generation console PlayStation 4, and that a similar release could follow on PlayStation 5. "We created the Nioh series for PS4 and we would like to do the same for PS5," he concluded.
It is possible that Team Ninja's next game after Nioh 2 is an exclusive for PlayStation 5 but it will probably take a while before it sees the light of the day. Also, it would be interesting to see if Team Ninja port the game to PC just like they did with Nioh.
Hayashi did not say what kind of game they would love to do but we assume the studio would probably stick to souls-like action RPG once again.
