Amazon Game Studios recently published another Q&A video, Forged in Aeternum, which collects questions from New World players across various platforms and then the devs answer them.
In the latest issue, the team answered quite a few questions but one that stood out was about the existence of DPS meter in the future.
Usually, DPS meters are integrated into MMOs through add-ons but AGS took a hard stance against such things, warning the players they could get banned for even adding map-related mods.
With that in mind, the high-end PvE enthusiasts mostly lost hope of having this tool at their disposal but it appears the devs were working on it all along.
They confirmed that DPS is coming to New World in the Q&A video below but immediately quelled the flames of hype by announcing it won't be as useful as you may think.
Namely, AGS will not make the DPS meter work in real-time in order to prevent mid-encounter toxicity but the price the feature pays for it is obvious - if something is going wrong, you won't know why until the end of the encounter.
It is also unclear whether we will get DPS readings only if we finish the run successfully or if they will be shown at the end regardless, which could be another kink in the usefulness of the tool.
