Blunderbuss is wreaking havoc in New World PvP and the only thing standing in its way is an even worse weapon, the Life Staff. However, the latter didn't receive any tuning in this patch so let's focus on the big broomstick and a few other changes.
While Blunderbuss damage was decreased by nine per cent already in PvP, it was not enough as a simple grenade and shrapnel blast combo was deleting players in PvP.
With the latest patch, the penalty has grown to 12 per cent, which will definitely prevent some deaths but the weapon's burst will remain extremely scary.
Considering that Pestilence is an artefact specifically tailored to counter healing, the weapon type's popularity is bound to grow in the meta where Life Staff is powerful enough to withstand multiple attackers.
Meanwhile, some Heartrunes that were underperforming have received damage buffs:
- Dark Ascent Heartrune by 20 per cent
- Fire Storm Heartrune by 33 per cent
- Devourer Heartrune by 26 per cent
It is still hard to imagine players picking these up over Stoneform, Detonation or Vines in PvP but they may actually see more usage in PvE now.
Fire Storm is also useful in large-scale PvP like OPR, Wars and Influence Races and with the damage buff, they will likely be the rune of choice for Fire Staff / Great Axe users who already have great escape tools and don't rely on Stoneform that much.
