It looks like a brand new Quake game could be announced at the upcoming QuakeCon 2021. Bethesda have a Quake segment featuring both id Software and Machine Games.
Quake is coming back in a big way, at least, that's what earlier rumours from Shpeshal Nick stated. Apparently, the game would feature a female protagonist, for the first time in the franchise's history. Nick stated that this new Quake would be developed by Doom developer id Software but also assisted by MachineGames.
And by the looks of it, this rumour may not be that far away from the truth. Bethesda have recently announced the full schedule for QuakeCon 2021, which kicks off August 19, 2021, confirming that id Software and MachineGames will be talking about Quake during the event.
- Celebrating 25 Years of Quake with id Software and Machine Games: 2:05 p.m. ET
- Kevin Cloud and Marty Stratton from id Software and Jerk Gustafsson from MachineGames discuss the impact and legacy of the original Quake on its 25th anniversary.
This may not look like much but it's certainly interesting that people from both studios are sitting down to talk about the franchise, shortly after we heard about the rumoured Quake game with female protagnosti. Coincidence? Sure, it's possible but something tells us that there's more to it and hopefully, we will hear more about it next week.
Of course, we always suggest you take rumours and leaks with a grain of salt until officially confirmed.
