Marvel Games and NetEase today announced Marvel Rivals, a 6v6 hero shooter that combines the action-packed gameplay of Marvel's Ultimate Alliance with the strategic multiplayer elements of popular titles like Overwatch and Valorant.
In the trailer which you can check out above, we got to see first heroes and maps in action and we have to say that the game looks quite good. Yes, it's perhaps too similar to Overwatch in concept and art style but it's certainly not the first game to copy what works.
Below, you'll find some key details on Marvel Rivals including the game's story, character roster, gameplay description and more.
Marvel Rivals story
The narrative revolves around the intense conflict between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099. Their clash has caused countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, resulting in the creation of new worlds and unprecedented crises.
In this chaotic landscape, superheroes and villains from across the multiverse find themselves forced to fight alongside or against one another. Disparate groups must unite in their quest to defeat both versions of Doctor Doom before one of them achieves dominance over these realities.
As the storyline unfolds, familiar faces take on new roles as adversaries, while former enemies form unexpected alliances.

Marvel Rivals Gameplay
The synergy between heroes in Marvel Rivals adds an exciting layer of strategy and teamwork to the gameplay. By combining their powers, players can unleash devastating duo attacks, such as Hulk charging up Iron Man's laser attacks with his gamma-ray powers. This mechanic not only reflects the dynamic teamwork seen in the movies but also introduces unique and powerful gameplay opportunities.
For example, Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot's back, reminiscent of their partnership in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. This combination allows players to control both characters simultaneously, akin to the iconic duo Voltron, but with woodland creatures.
The ability to fuse the powers of beloved Marvel characters in gameplay evokes the joy of playing with action figures as kids, offering an immersive and thrilling experience for players. This feature sets Marvel Rivals apart from other hero shooters and adds an extra layer of depth to battles, encouraging players to experiment with different combinations and strategies.
Marvel Rivals release date
With the creative minds at Marvel and NetEase's team composed of global talent who previously worked on hit franchises such as Call of Duty and Battlefield, we have high expectations for Marvel Rivals.
