Naughty Dog are currently working on the Last of Us Remake because their other projects are still in early development/ pre-production, says reliable industry insider Jason Schreier.
Earlier this month, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that Naughty Dog are currently working on The Last of Us Remake, a piece of news that certainly surprised many PlayStation fans. While the majority of players were expecting to hear more about Naughty Dog's next game or The Last of Us Part 2 multiplayer, it seems that the studio are not quite ready to reveal what they have been working on just yet.
And the reason for that? Well, it seems that at the moment, they don't really have much to show or talk about. In the most recent episode of The MinnMax Show, Schreier offered some additional details about Naughty Dog and their new projects.
Schreier basically confirmed that the reason for The Last of Us Remake is to keep the team busy with something until other big projects, which are currently in pre-production, start full development.
"They [Naughty Dog] have a bunch of people that needed work so it was like an elegant solution to put them on The Last of Us Remake, get them used to working with the PS5, which they hadn't done before. It's something for people to do for a year or so, while the other things are in pre-production or whatever leads or Neil Druckmann wants to do next, so then they can bring more people on [these projects]."
At the moment, we do not know much about Naughty Dog's new project but it's safe to assume that one of them is probably a brand new Uncharted game. We also know that the studio may be working on a new IP, thanks to the concept artist who shared some art inspired by this project .
Anyway, it will probably take some time before we hear more about Naughty Dog's upcoming games but we're sure it will be worth the wait.
