Capcom won't be wasting time in 2021 it seems, and they set the tone by scheduling a Monster Hunter: Rise digital event that will feature "big news and reveals" for the Nintendo Switch game.

"Tune into the Monster Hunter Digital Event - January 2021 for big news and reveals on Monster Hunter Rise", the dev wrote, and the event starts at 6:00am PST / 2:00pm GMT.

Now, Capcom promised Nintendo Switch owners a playable demo in January and it's widely expected the studio will either launch it or set a fixed date during the event. Either way, it's definitely a nice surprise as we get to see whether Monster Hunter: Rise plays as well as it looks.

After all, nothing beats trying it out for yourself, although Capcom have been pretty diligent in uploading Monster Hunter: Rise trailers and screenshots.

As 2021 was fizzing out, Monster Hunter: Rise developer showed off the mouthwatering armour set for hunters who topple down Somnacanth, the little fellow on the image below.

Those who manage to do so can claim the awesome Somnacanth set and make themselves, their Palicos and Palamutes look extra spiffy. Some of the detail work is truly impressive, by the way, and we can't wait to see it up, close and personal.

Monster Hunter: Rise comes with a combination of familiar and new, and that goes for both its monsters and weapons.

If you're hungry for more, you'll have to wait for January 7, or head over here for more weapons, monsters and locations . Monster Hunter: Rise's trailer for Switch Axe can be found here ,

Also previewed were Monster Hunter: Rise's Charge Blade and Hunting Horn , both of which pack a mean punch.
