Infinity Ward have officially confirmed that the second weekend of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta will feature a brand new Ground War mode, which brings support to up to 64 players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release is coming in just over a month and players have been given the opportunity to try out the game last weekend in the beta test, with another one coming in just a couple of days.

Surprisingly, the first beta offered a lot of content including the gunsmith and some multiplayer modes but according to the developer Infinity Ward, players ain't seen nothing just yet. In the second beta test, Infinity Ward will also include the brand new, 64-player mode named Ground War. Here is the official announcement confirming the introduction of the new mode:

"Thank you for playing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta! We hope you’re enjoying everything we’ve shown you so far, but we aren’t done yet! On Saturday, September 21, during weekend two of the Beta, we’ll be taking your multiplayer experience to the next level. Taking place on a new map, Karst River Quarry, you’ll get your hands on 32v32 warfare in a new mode, Ground War."

As you may know, this mode is has been a huge talking point within the Call of Duty community and even some Battlefield YouTubers can't wait to see what the mode has in store. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Ground War is the closest to Battlefield series the game has ever been and it will include helicopters, tanks and other vehicles on large maps.

As for the new map, we didn't get the chance to see it in previous gameplay videos or trailers but judging from a tiny screenshot in , it's a huge map that will almost certainly bring a totally different experience than what we used to get in the previous Call of Duty games.

Ground war mode is another step towards more realistic gameplay, which has been one of the main design pillars for Infinity Ward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
